Jambo Longan

Description

• Appearance and Name: It is a small, round fruit, about the size of a large grape, that grows in clusters. It has a thin, leathery, light tan shell. The edible part is the translucent, whitish flesh (aril) that surrounds a single, round, black seed. The contrast between the white flesh and the dark seed gives it its common nickname, “dragon’s eye.”
• Taste: The flesh has a musky, sweet flavor, often compared to that of a lychee, but less aromatic.
